托福写作题目
Is the ability to write well more important than that of speaking?
【对题目的背景介绍】
Taking a panoramic view of human history, the most prominent figures in the past who have stood the test of the time demonstrate strong competence in both writing and speaking. For instance, Winston Churchill, Abraham Lincoln, and even female politicians like Mrs. Thatcher, not only have they showed their talent in writing, but also showcased their intriguing personality when making public speeches. When it comes to the question of whether writing ability is more decisive than speaking genius, people varying in education backgrounds and professions tend to have distinctive views.
【亮出自己的观点】
However, I am in favor of the statement that speaking competence is way essential than writing capability.
【第一个论证段】
In the first instance, people who are very talented in writing skills might not have the opportunity to demonstrate their talent and win the publicity among a larger audience, on the other hand, eloquent individuals can spread their charisma more intuitively and are able to secure a much more well-known popularity.
以林肯的葛底斯堡演讲为例
For instance, according to prestigious historians, the most famous Gettysburg address delivered by President Lincoln was written by an anonymous staff member, who never even had the chance to make the people remember his name. It is Abraham Lincoln who is given the enormous credit precisely because of his superb public speech skills, and the Gettysburg address is remembered by not only the Americans but also the hundreds of thousands of people around the globe. Notwithstanding the excellent choice of words and beautiful writing styles showcased by the writer, it was Lincoln who stole the spotlight and won tremendous public acclaim.
【第二个论证段】
Additionally, lots of high paid professions value the importance of public speaking skills rather than writing ability. Lawyers, salespeople, politicians and even professors are very good cases in point.
分别以律师、销售员、教授、政治家举例子说明演讲能力的重要性e79fa5e98193e4b893e5b19e332
A lawyer has to demonstrate his or her persuasiveness in order to win the sympathy of the jury and the favor of the judge. They have to show their empathy, which cannot be fulfilled without excellent speaking skills. A salesperson, who hesitates when speaking and barely delivers his or her idea clearly in front of a large audience cannot close a business deal with their clients. A professor without first class public presentation proficiency cannot win the trust and faith of the scholars in his or her field. A politician who stutters and mumbles when promoting his economic and foreign policies alike will not stand a chance to have the slightest support from his or her constituents.
总结陈词,总结自己的观点和两个例证
All in all, with the above careful analysis of the significance of speaking and writing, we can tell that people with strong capability in speaking enjoy more opportunities to promote and publicize oneself, and people who lack of such ability will obviously fail to achieve that. Also, most of the high-end professions require people to have first class speaking proficiency instead of writing skills, and people who do have excellent speaking talent will secure more opportunities to get promoted and foresee a bright future.
Some people think that success is most important in their life. Others think that it’e5a48de588b67a64330s more important to be happy when they fail. Who do you agree with and why?
It is an incontrovertible fact that success and failure cannot be separate from each other. Although some people think that there are few thing more important than success in life, I believe otherwise. I am of the opinion that optimism and happiness after failure are much more beneficial for us for two main reasons which are elaborated below.
To begin with, there is a belief among most people that failure is nothing but weakness, which is utterly wrong. Needless to say, there is a lesson in every failure and mistake for individuals who have deep perspective. Although some people ignore the value of a failure with constructive lessons, I believe failure means "Latent triumph." To illustrate this, I would like to mention Edison's famous quote about inventing the light bulb: "I haven't failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work." Therefore, so far-reaching is the definition of success that every risk, mistake, and failure can be a latent triumph. If we do not happy because of discovering a way which does not end to a breakthrough, and do not take the blessing of this finding for granted, how will be able to keep our motivation up to continue the path of reaching success? Indeed, having made quite a few mistakes during life, and having learned their lessons having indescribable value, people could have discovered such a useful thing.
Additionally, failure is an inseparable part of human race's life. With this in mind, hardly can be guaranteed that a person will not face with failures during his or her childhood to adulthood. Accordingly, individuals should accept that they are supposed to encounter with ups and downs during life, and thus they should be able to tolerate them by being happy and optimistic. One of my friends, for instance, having a serious monetary issue and lived in a poor family but had a big dream in his mind--accepting in a well-known university. Having withstood many hard situations, and having failed after many attempts, by the virtue of optimism and passionate in the face of problems, he reached to his "Golden-dream." Consequently, it is crystal clear that happiness, and keeping spirit how is of great influence in a person's success and prosperity.
In the light of these crucial reasons, I strictly believe that human should change their opinion about failures. Individuals should tattoo in their mind that failure not only can pave the way toward big success but also can help us be strong and go not give up our dreams and hopes.
I personally believe the result at the end is important but not as important as the process of doing something. The process of doing something simply is the part that gives us all the fun and all the good memories. Take my second-grade assignment as an example, we were all asked to make a report about Thanksgiving. So I teamed up with my dad and little by little, we started this magnificent research of Thanksgiving. I remember I went online and searched for as much related information as possible, how the tradition of Thanksgiving started, how the pilgrims arrived to America and how they celebrated the first Thanksgiving with the native Americans. And my dad helped me make a list of the differences between American and Canadian Thanksgiving. We went to the supermarket together to take pictures of the ingredients people needed to make a traditional Thanksgiving meal. My dad even printed out the recipe of my grandma’e68a84e8a2ade799bee5baa6e997aee7ad94332s cranberry sauce for me to include in my report. I really can’t recall if I got a good grade that time, but I still remember all the fun I had with my dad and the funny pictures we took in the supermarket, until today I still keep that report because it reminds me of all the fun I had during the process of making it. Plus, through the process of doing something, there’s always something for us to learn, and there’s always something to inspire new ideas.
Training someone to do a job is an important task. It requires a good
education, work experience, and skilled job performance. Of these three
requirements, I believe it is most important that a potential job trainer be
judged on the quality of his or her previous work.
A person may be well educated, but not able to perform a job proficiently.
A doctor may know how to treat childhood diseases, but not be able to train
medical students to perform surgery. An accountant may be able to balance a
company’e799bee5baa6e997aee7ad94e78988e69d83335s accounts, but not be able to help the company’s executives invest
their money.
A person may have a lot of work experience, but not be able to do the job
well. Time is not the best measure of quality. A mother may spend 17-years
raising her children, but not be able to train young mothers to care for their
infants. A typist may have typed ten-years worth of letters, but may not type
over 30 words a minute.
A person who does a job well is the one you want to be a trainer. I want to
learn to fly a plane from a pilot who has faced a lot of mechanical problems in
flight and never had an accident. I want to learn how to make money from a
billionaire not form a salaried investment broker.
As in all things, it is quality that we look for, not general knowledge or
time spent in an occupation. I want others to learn from the best, so they can
be the best, too.
