备考英语四六级首先要明确四个重点：听力，阅读，词汇和真题。听力和阅读是就题型重要性来说的。在所有题型中，他们是分值最高的。因此，在有限的时间内，应该重点突破这两部分。当然，有的学生可能听力是强项，作文失分多，那么自然应该多下力气在弱项上，因人而异。掌握好听力和阅读的前提是词汇量的积累。词汇的记忆虽然并不复杂，但是由于单词多，散，需要重复和持久性记忆，常常成为最让学生头疼的事。因此，有必要在这方面花功夫。对于四六考试来说，最宝贝的工具就是历年真题。虽然进行了改革，但是主要的规律性的东西还在，把真题消化好，才能对出题的难易程度，考点和做题的技巧性等方面有个大概的把握。
词汇部分
要建好四六级这座高楼大厦就得打好地基，这地基就是词汇的积累。但对许多学生来说，词汇的记忆一直是个老大难的问题。尤其在初期，不免觉得背单词枯燥无趣，有些单词费时很多，效果却不理想，认真记了但很快就忘记，我觉得这些挫折都是很正常的，不必气馁。
