We cansee clearly from the cartoon there is a father talking with her son. Havingheard his son’s words that “ Dad, I am a bit worried about disposing of nuclearweapon.” The father replies that “ If you can empty the dustbin here, you cando anything”.

The Big is the Little

Nothing can be done except little by little, the French poet Baudelaire Charles once said. Most people, however, often ignore such a truth. So does the little boy shown in the picture. He expresses his worries to his father about disposing of nuclear waste, but is told that he can achieve nothing if he doesn’t empty the dustbin first.

Every single little thing you can do today matters. The truth has been tested for ages, and thousands of great people have set good examples for us. For instance, Leonardo da Vinci, the world-renowned master in painting, starts his career with repeated egg-drawing. Lu Xun, the great man of letters, reminded himself to get up early by inscribing the character “morning” on his desk.

As university students, in my opinion, we should aim high, but at the same time, we shall never measure a task by its size. All in all, only those who have the patience to do simple things perfectly will acquire the skill to do difficult things easily.

Facts about the world are waiting to be observed and discovered by people who have learned basic skills. However, few people realize the importance of basic skills. As is shown in the picture, the pupils in the class are questioning the necessity of learning basic skill such as multiplication table.

In my opinion, basic skills are the bridges reaching success. For one thing, in the everyday practice, we can use basic skills to carry out our work. For another thing, solution frequently follows a complicated route; therefore we cannot ignore the importance of basic skills, which help us maintain objective and wise.

As a result, we should take some effective steps to make people aware of the significance of learning basic skills. For instance, we can inform students that opportunities for misinterpretation and errors abound, so we must learn basic skills to cope with them. To sum up, we cannot deny it that basic skills are indispensable to our success.

In the face of various and complicated requirements of employment market, some students begin to question the significance of learning basic knowledge and skills, just as what is exposed in the cartoon above.

However, it is absolutely wrong to hold that idea. Owing to the fact that we are living in a competitive society, the development of our society demands that we arm ourselves with basic skills and up-to-date knowledge so as to keep up with the pace of our society. An investigation shows that millions of people spend time and energy grasping skills and technology so that they can keep a favorable position in job market or enhance their opportunities. While focusing on creativity, innovation, management and leadership skills, we should never forget the fundamental importance of the more basic, essential skills。

The Impact of the Internet on the Way People Communicate

Internet does exert such a profound effect on our life that it revolutionizes the way of people’s living and thinking. As is subtly revealed in the portrayal，there are two parents sitting in the front of computer，who are chatting with their child on the internet. What a meaningful picture!

From my perspective, the electronic contact cannot replace face to face communication owing to the following factors. To begin with, over-reliance on electronic contact will damage the interpersonal relationship, for the cold machine never replaces a warm-hearted greeting face to face. For example, the aged parents would like their only son who works far away home to come back home more often rather than to talk with him on the internet occasionally. What’s more, face to face communication is preferable because it is beneficial to build a harmonious society, for it attaches more importance on human affection and feelings instead of convenience and speed.

Hence, it is necessary for us to use Internet in a reasonable way. After all, Internet is invented to connect you and me, and to bring conveniences to our life rather than set a barrier to keep people beyond reach. If we want to keep our interpersonal relationship more effectively, we should spend more time with them face to face in real life. Only in this way can we not only make full use of the communication tool on the net but also make our relationship tighter.

the Impact of the Mobile Phone in People’s Life

The thought-provoking drawing mirrors a common phenomenon in contemporary society that there is the negative influence of mobile phone. As is subtly shown in the picture，so many people are too much addicted to cell phones that they use walking sticks to see the road. What a meaningful cartoon!

It is to me that indulging in mobile phones produces native influences on body and mind. First and foremost, overusing mobile phones is detrimental to physical health for watching mobiles for a long stretch definitely impairs one’s eyesight. Suppose that a man is addicted in cell phones in whatever situation, it will be very disadvantageous for him to concentrate on his work, learning, or daily life and is very likely to hurt him. Furthermore, overusing cell phones adversely affects state of mind. An addict may stay inside his bubble instead of pursuing other endeavors, which eventually prevents the growth of think skills.

It is high time that we took effective measures to curb this trend. I cherish a belief that cell phones themselves are not good or bad and we can benefit a lot from it as long as we take a good control over them.

As is vividly shown above, a teacher and a pupil stand in front of a blackboard, talking about the relation of internet and education. The pupil, holding a smart-phone in his hand, questions whether he needs any other education or not, with the mastery of Google.

While the Internet has greatly impacted how to learn, education doesn’t simply means learning to acquire information because of the following two factors. On one hand, education is very inclusive, so leaning to obtain message is usually a part of it. If we overemphasize students’ ability of acquiring information, we will fail to educate the young to be developed fully. On the other hand, it is only a passive way of learning to obtain information, which do not parallel to creative thinking that is essential for education.

Thus, while putting emphasis on education, we should cultivate the youngsters’ awareness of obtaining the knowledge in many aspects rather than just by the internet. Only in this way, can our society be more harmonious; can our economy be more prosperous, and we, as individuals, embrace more promising perspective.
