精卫填海故事
太阳神炎帝有一个小女儿，名叫女娃，是他最钟爱的女儿．有一天，女娃驾着小船，到东海去游玩，不幸海上起了风浪，象山一样的海浪把小船打翻，女娃就淹死在海里，永远不回来了。炎帝固然挂念他的女儿。但都不能用他的光和热来使她死而复生，只好独自悲伤罢了。
女娃不甘心她的死，她的魂灵变化做了一只小鸟，名叫“精卫”。精卫长着花脑袋、白嘴壳、红脚爪，大小有点象乌鸦，住在北方的发鸠山。她恨无情的大海夺去了她年轻的生命，因此她常常飞到西山去衔一粒小石子，或是一段小树枝；展翅高飞，一直飞到东海。她在波涛汹涌的海面上回翔着，把石子或树枝投下去，要想把大海填平。
大海奔腾着，咆哮着，露出雪亮亮的牙齿。凶恶地嘲笑着：“小鸟儿，算了罢，你这工作就算干上一百万年，也休想把大海填平呢。”
精卫在高空答复大海：“哪怕是干上一千万年，一万万年，干到宇宙的终尽，世界的末日，我也要把你填平！”
“你为什么衔恨我这样深呢?”
“因为你呀——夺取了我年轻的生命，将来还会有许多年轻无辜的生命要被你无情地夺去。”
“傻鸟儿．那么你就干吧——干吧！”大海哈哈地大笑了。
精卫在高空悲啸着：“我要干的！我要干的！我要永无休止地干下去的!这叫人悲恨的大海啊，总有一天我会把你填成平地！”

While she was enjoying herself, a strong wind rose on the sea and her boat capsized. Just before she was buried by the surging waves, her spirit turned into a beautiful bird. As it flew over the roaring sea, it cried sadly in the sound "jinwei, jingwei". That was why people called it "Jingwei". The bird lived on a mountain near the sea.
